I don’t own an air fryer. Although, I would love to have one (hint! for anyone who wants to buy me a gift hehe). Nor do I own a deep fryer as I am too intimated to use one. It is not necessarily something I would use regularly and deep-fried foods are also not particularly too good for you too. So I have been working on recipes to get a fried effect without a deep fryer or air fryer. To keep things simple as well, I am using ingredients that you can easily access from your local grocery shop.
These sweet potato fries are baked not fried! And they achieve the crunchiness and crispiness of fried fries.

Crispy Baked Sweet Potato Fries
Materials
- 6 sweet potatoes peeled
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup sunflower oil or olive oil
- Desired additional seasoning such as paprika or parsley optional
Instructions
- Preheat oven at 200ºC.
- Cut sweet potatoes into long, fries shape. Throw sweet potatoes into a bowl with the black pepper, salt, cornstarch, oil, and any other additional seasoning you wish and mix thoroughly.
- Place sweet potatoes on a tray and cook in oven for 40 minutes, until golden brown and crunchy looking.
- Chill for about 10 mins before serving. Serve with your desired dip. I love having sweet potato fries with ketchup and mayo mixed together!
